How to Update PS2 Game Rosters Using an USB

Some games for the PS2, such as a football game, allow you to play actual players from professional rosters. The rosters change every year as the teams trade players or get new recruits. You can keep up with the changes by updating your game rosters. Download the roster update to your computer and then save it to a memory card by using a Max Drive with a USB cable. The Max Drive is formatted to save and store PS2 save files and updates for your sports games.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the roster update. Unzip the folder with the WinRAR program.

    • 2

Locate the file, which should have a ".max" extension at the end. Plug the Max Drive into your computer. Open the Max Drive folder when the dialogue box appears. Right click the ".max" file and select "Copy." "Paste" the file onto a blank space on the Max Drive folder to make a copy.

    • 3

Plug the Max Drive into the PS2. Insert the PS2 memory card into the console.

    • 4

Insert the Max Drive PS2 disc into the PS2. At the menu, select "Manage My Memory Cards." Move the cursor to the right and highlight the Max Drive and press "X." The file you saved on the Max Drive will load. Press "X" when it's finished. Press right on the D-Pad to move the cursor and highlight "Uncrush." Press "X" to format the file for your PS2 memory card.

Select the memory card for the file transfer. When the process is complete, remove the Max Drive and the Max Drive disc. Insert your game disc. When the game loads, you can access the updates on the memory card.
