Music 3000 Games

"Music 3000" is a simulation game released for PlayStation 2 in 2005 that is more like a piece of computer software than a video game. It allows you to make music even if you lack the ability to play a single instrument and have a singing voice best kept for the shower.
  1. How It Works

    • The basic functions of "Music 3000" are relatively straightforward. Pick a Riff, meaning a musical sample, such as a guitar chord or drum beat, and add it to your Track Editor. Riffs take up blocks on the track editor; the exact amount of blocks depends on the length of the Riff. You can then add another riff to play at the same time or move on to the next point of the track. Your goal is to arrange the samples into a song that you like, even changing the reverberation, pitch or adding effects if you see fit.

    Tutorials

    • How complex the software is depends on how in depth you want to go. If you want to explore everything "Music 3000" has to offer, there are 19 tutorials to help you become an expert.

    Samples

    • With thousands of samples coming from a wide selection of instruments and a range of genres, including pop, indie, metal, garage and hip-hop, there is enough choice for every track you create to sound unique. But if that still isn't enough, there is also a USB sampler and microphone that allows you to add samples from your own music collection. If the device you want to sample has a line-out socket, record whatever you want. The microphone offers the possibility to record your own voice and edit it before slotting it into your song.

    Music Videos

    • "Music 3000" isn't just an audio experience, there is a video editor, too. You can create a music video to run alongside your track using following the same basic steps used when assembling your song. You cannot add in samples in this feature though and there are far fewer video samples than audio samples.

    Remix Tracks

    • Instead of building a song from scratch, remix your favorite tracks from your CD collection as they play using the six in-game decks. Full songs by Paul Oakenfold and Timo Maas are also available for this mode.
