How to Fight the Reaper in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3

"Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3" features an optional boss called "The Reaper," which players may encounter during their initial treks into the towering dungeon "Tartarus." You can defeat the Reaper using a strategy ensuring the creature will limit its attack on your party during the battle. Using the high-level spell "Thunder Reign" to best the Reaper requires you to complete the "Emperor Social Link" and reach the final block of Tartarus, "Adamah."

Instructions

  1. Preparing for Battle

    • 1

Complete the Emperor Social Link after gaining access to the Student Council room on April 27th. Talk to Ms.Toriumi in the Faculty Office to join the Student Council. Go to the Student Council room on the second floor to meet fellow Student Council member Hidetoshi Odagiri. Visit the Student Council room every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to further progress the Emperor Social Link.

    • 2

Reach level 75 or higher by progressing through story events and the dungeon Tartarus. The Reaper possesses enhanced battle stats better than typical level-70 personae. Fight enemies with better experience and after-battle loot by heading to the sixth block "Adamah." Continue leveling up until you reach the appropriate level.

    • 3

Fuse the Persona "Odin" using the personae "Laksmi" and "Throne" after reaching level 75 or higher. Find Laksmi and Throne through the after-battle "Shuffle Time" feature. Go through the blue door on the left side of Tartarus' first floor to enter the "Velvet Room." Select the "Fuse Persona" option to reach the "Persona Fusion" menu to fuse Odin. Level Odin to level 63 in order to learn the high level "Zio," or Thunder spell, "Thunder Reign."

    Battling the Reaper

    • 4

Head to any block of Tartarus to search for the Reaper. The Reaper appears on any floor of every block after waiting there for at least three minutes. Select a card adorned with the "Death" symbol during after-battle "Shuffle Time" to make the Reaper appear faster. Approach the Reaper to initiate battle.

    • 5

Select "Tactics" on the "Battle" menu to set two party members to the "Knock Down" option. Set one party member to the "Heal/Support" option. Attack the Reaper using Odin's Thunder Reign to inflict "shock" upon the creature. Shock raises the likelihood of inflicting a critical attack upon the Reaper.

    • 6

Use "All-Out Attacks" on the Reaper after the creature falls victim to a critical attack. All Out-Attack allow all party members to attack the enemy at the same time. Continue attacking the Reaper using Thunder Reign and All-Out Attacks with your party members until the creature falls.
