How to Hook Up Online Play on PS2 With a Phone Cord & an Ethernet Cable

The PlayStation 2 is not able to connect online right out of the box since it first requires that you connect it to a network adapter. The network adapter connects to the back of the PS2, where you can plug it into a DSL modem through an Ethernet cable. Once the initial setup process is complete, you can play PS2 games with people around the world without leaving your seat.

Press down on the two plastic clips on the expansion bay cover to remove it from the back of the PS2.

Position the network adapter in front of the expansion bay so the black covering is facing away from the PS2. Push the connection from the network adapter into the port of the PS2's expansion bay and tighten the security screw with a Phillips screwdriver.
