How to Disassemble a Silver PS2

There was a period of time when Sony released its PlayStation 2 game console in different designs and colors, including a silver version. If you need to open up your Sony silver PS2 in order to diagnose problems or replace parts, you'll be pleased to know that the process isn't any different than opening up a standard PS2. In other words, it can be completed relatively quickly.

  Power off your silver PS2 and remove the power cables and controllers from the ports on the front of the unit.

  Turn the unit upside-down. You will notice eight screws on the sides of the bottom of the PS2. The screws are covered with pads.

  Pop the pads off the tops of the screws with the tip of your screwdriver.

  Remove the eight screws with the screwdriver and set them aside.
- 5
  Turn the unit right-side up and lift the top housing off the unit to expose the internal components inside.
- 6
  Lift the disc drive assembly from the bottom housing of the unit. The PS2 is now disassembled.
