Installing the PlayStation 2 Network Adaptor
Turn off and unplug the PS2 from the electrical outlet. You may also need to unplug the audio and video cables to get access to the rear panel of the PS2.
Pull the expansion bay cover off by placing a fingernail in the slot at the top of the cover and pulling toward you. When there is enough space to place your fingers in-between the cover and the expansion bay pull the cover backwards until it slides out of the bay slot.
Remove the plastic cover from the network adaptor plug and place the adaptor into the expansion bay with the network port at the top of the adaptor.
Press the adaptor in firmly to push the connector into the PS2.
Lock the adaptor into the expansion bay by turning the two screws on the adaptor clockwise. You may need to turn the PS2 console face-down to line the screws up with the expansion bay slots. Tighten the screws using a coin.
Plug the power, video and audio cables back into the PS2.
Creating the Network Configuration
Turn on the console and open the disc tray.
Insert the "Network Setup" disc and close the tray. If you do not have a "Network Setup" disc, you can use a PS2 game that has an online setup utility installed. Most online-capable games have the utility on the disc. A list of online-capable PS2 games can be found at OnlineConsoles.com.
Insert your memory card into the PS2 if it isn't already inserted.
Select "Network Configuration" and press the "X" button. If using a PS2 game, the setup utility will be on the main screen or in the multiplayer mode menu.
Input a name for the network configuration using the on-screen keyboard and press the "X" button.
Select the "Yes" option on the "Internet Service Provider" screen and press the "X" button.
Select "High Speed Connection" from the list of options and press the "X" button.
Select "Automatic Settings" and press the "X" button.
Enter either your ISP user name and password or the DHCP hostname in the boxes provided, depending on your service provider's account settings. Check your ISP user service agreement for your login details.
Press the "X" button to save the network configuration to the memory card and complete the network setup utility. Your PS2 is now Internet-ready.
