Hack and Slash Games for the PS2 That Are Rated Teen

Hack and slash games emphasize combat within a battlefield. Usually seen from a third-person perspective, modern hack and slash games use strikes, attacks and special moves that are completed using simple button combinations. The PlayStation 2 video console has many hack and slash games. Those that feature comical violence and a limited amount of blood or other graphic images are designated with the "T" symbol: meaning suitable for teens.
  1. "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance"

    • "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance" is an action game developed by Snowblind Studios in 2001. Taking place in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms, players control one of three playable characters: Kromlech, Cahn or Adrianna. Kromlech is a dwarf who specializes in hand-to-hand combat. Cahn is a human who uses archery, and Adrianna is an elf who uses sorcery. The game play follows the rules of Dungeons and Dragons. Combat is handled using hack and slash conventions. After each battle, the players will receive experience points that can be used to upgrade their statistics.

    "Marvel Ultimate Alliance"

    • Raven Software developed "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. Set within the fictional Marvel Universe, the game features dozens of the heroes, villains and supporting characters from Marvel Comics. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Nick Fury sends out a distress call to all the superheros to confront Dr. Doom and his underlings. Players select four characters from the list to create a team and face off against hundreds of enemies per stage. Many of the characters use their signature moves, such as Captain America's shield throw, Spider-Man's web slinging and Iron Man's proton cannon.

    "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy"

    • "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy" is an action role playing game developed by Midway in 2001. In the game, players must stop the evil demon Skorne by gathering the 13 Runestones that were scattered along 11 different worlds. The eight different characters all have special abilities using either magic, strength, speed or armor. The hack and slash game play allows players to perform combos by linking fast and slow attacks together. Players can also activate items, magic potions and special summoning attacks at any time.

    "Monster Hunter"

    • Capcom developed and published "Monster Hunter" in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. The game places players in the role of a hunter who must complete various quests to receive recognition and acclaim. In the hunting quests, the player must track, provoke and destroy one or multiple monsters. Hunters can either use swords, lances or hammers as a Blademaster or bowguns as a Gunner. The players use hack and slash combat to defeat the monster using several strikes and magic attacks mapped to a single button.
