How to Find the Battery Life on a PS3 Controller

Sony sells only wireless devices, such as headsets and controllers, for its PlayStation 3 video game console. While these wireless accessories eliminate the hassle of untangling cords, you must be sure to keep track of their battery level. Your controller itself, however, does not include any battery level indicator unless the device is nearly fully drained. Use your PS3's built-in menus to keep tabs on your controller's power level.

     Turn on your PS3, eject any game from the system and wait for the Xross-Media Bar to appear.

     Hold down the "PS" button on the controller for two seconds. The controller's diagnostics appear on the screen. Release the "PS" button.

     Check the battery icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each controller for which you want to check the battery level.
