In PlayStation 3 games like "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," challenge lobbies are much sought after. Players can join regular lobbies through the PlayStation network, but challenge lobbies are radically different. These groups take a great deal of knowledge to create, since users must modify or "hack" them into existence. As a result, they are not open to everyone. The groups offer modified benefits, such as items, trophies, experience and other features that otherwise require hours -- if not weeks -- of play time. If you want to find and join a challenge lobby, understanding the process is critical.

  Make connections. Much like an exclusive club, access to challenge lobbies depends on who you know. Ideally, you can ask personal friends if they host these groups. However, you can also meet people on your game's forums or during multi-player matches.

  Search the Internet. Some people are willing to accept strangers into their challenge lobbies. A typical search engine, such as Google, will work. Also, some YouTube users make videos about their lobbies and provide links showing you where you can sign up.

  Contact the host. Once you find a lobby, contact the lobby's leader to request an invite. This can be as simple as an e-mail, but it may also involve filling in an online application. Once they accept you, you can join them online through your PS3's Internet connection whenever they host a match or gathering.
