How to Input Bluetoooth on PS3

Before you can use a Bluetooth device on your PlayStation 3, you must go through a validation process called pairing. Once the device is paired with the PS3, the system will automatically recognize and connect as long as it's within 30 feet of the console. The PS3 can handle up to seven Bluetooth devices at a time. The PS3 controllers count as Bluetooth devices, so if you have seven controllers active, you must delete a controller before you can pair another Bluetooth device.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your Bluetooth device into discoverable mode. The method for activating discoverable mode varies depending on the make, model and type of device. For most Bluetooth headsets, power the headset off and back on, but hold down the power button until the LED indicator blinks alternate colors or turns solid.

    • 2

Open the "Settings" menu on the PS3 and choose "Accessory Settings."

    • 3

Choose "Manage Bluetooth Devices" and select "Register New Device." Select "Yes" if the PS3 asks if you want to register a device.

    • 4

Select "Start Scanning," and the PS3 will search for nearby Bluetooth devices. When it finds your Bluetooth device, it will display a list of devices on the screen.

    • 5

Select your Bluetooth device. Enter the passcode for your Bluetooth device if prompted. Most Bluetooth devices use "1234" or "0000." If neither combination works, refer to the instructions for your Bluetooth device.
