How to Get a PS3 to Play at 24 FPS

The Sony PlayStation 3 has the capability of transmitting 24 Hz signals over the high optional definition multimedia cable. This translates into 24 frames per second at 1080p when using the system to play Blu-Ray movies. The PS3 will not transmit 1080p signal over other connections when playing movies, and both the TV and the disc must support 24 Hz mode. You can enable the setting through the console's menu.
