How to Install KaKaRoTo PS3 Keys

KaKaRoTo was the first Sony PS3 developer to release custom firmware (CFW) for the PS3. The custom firmware file that is installed includes the proper keys necessary to run user-created programs directly from the PS3's menu. Installing the CFW requires that your PS3 already be running firmware version 3.41 or 3.55.

USB flash drive
KaKaRoTo CFW file

Instructions

  Download the KakaRoTo PS3 CFW from the download mirror and connect a USB flash drive to the computer.

  Click the "Open folder to view files" option when the "Autorun" window comes up. Click "New Folder" and type in "PS3" to name it.

  Open the "PS3" folder and click "New Folder." Type in "UPDATE." Open the "UPDATE" folder and drag the KaKaRoTo CFW file into the "UPDATE" folder.

  Unplug the USB flash drive from the computer and insert it into the PS3's USB port. Select the "System Update" option.

  Select "Update via Storage Media" and the PS3 finds the CFW file. Press "X" on the PS3 controller to install the CFW.
