Instructions
Check the Internet signal to make sure the signal is strong. A weak signal could be the reason the PS3 isn't running as quickly as it should.
Insert an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port at the rear of the PS3 and run the Ethernet cable to your modem. A cable connection will always be better than a Wi-Fi connection.
Scroll to "Settings" from the main menu screen of your PS3. Press "X."
Scroll to "Network Settings" and press "X." Select "Wired" or "Wireless" configuration (depending on how you would like to connect the PS3) and save the settings.
Select "Settings" once again and press "X."
Select "Update via Internet" and press "X." Press "Yes" to confirm. The PS3 will update with new firmware and automatically reset. This will improve performance of the unit.
Select "Music", "Video" or "Game" from the main menu screen. Scroll to any media files you no longer need and select "Delete." Clearing up space on the unit's hard drive will improve performance.
