Troubleshooting a PlayStation Move Controller

The PlayStation Move is an advanced motion-based controller for the PS3. Unlike the standard Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers, the Move incorporates full body-motion controls. Included with the PlayStation Move is the PlayStation Eye, the camera responsible for capturing the majority of the movement. Both devices are wireless and must be paired before they will work properly. If your Move is not operating properly, a few troubleshooting measures can be tried to solve the issue. Not all PS3 games support the Move or will function well with the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that the Move controller has been properly paired with the PS3. Connect the Move controller to the PS3 using the supplied USB cable and press the "PS" button on the Move controller to pair it to the PS3. If you have not done so already, leave the Move controller connected to the PS3 until the light on the Move stops blinking. This indicates that the Move is fully charged and can then be used wirelessly.

Position the PlayStation Eye in a sunlight- and glare-free environment. Ideally, the Eye should be placed on top of the TV and in the center if possible. If lighting is an issue, the PS3 will automatically notify you of the less-than-optimal conditions before trying to use the Move.

Complete the calibration process required by Move-compatible games. When starting any Move-compatible game, you are prompted to point the Move in various directions, which is intended to adjust the sensitivity and awareness of the device. You can recalibrate manually at any time by pressing and holding the "Select" button.
