How to Get My PS3 to Recognize a Trio MP3 Player

The PlayStation 3 serves as a control center for various multimedia platforms, not only the video games of consoles past. The USB ports included on the PS3 enable you to play back music, videos and digital photo files from an external USB drive such as a Trio MP3 player. Since the feature is native to the PS3 console, you won't have to worry about installing additional hardware or software to the PS3 to get it to recognize your MP3 player.

  Insert USB connection end into one of the USB ports on the PS3 game console.

  Turn on your TV and the PS3 console. The media menu appears.

  Scroll to the "Music" option in the menu and press "X." Highlight the "USB Device" option and press the triangle button to open the Display menu.

  Highlight the "Display All" entry in the Display menu and press "X" to get the PS3 to recognize the Trio and display the music files from the Trio in the menu. Highlight a song you want to play and press "X" to listen to the song.
