How to Hook Up a PS3 Eye Cam to a Laptop

The PlayStation Eye is a USB camera that is designed to be used with Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment console. To connect the camera to a laptop computer, you need the necessary drivers. With the drivers installed, connecting a PlayStation Eye camera to your laptop is just like connecting any other USB webcam.

  Open a Web browser and navigate to codelaboratories.com. Click the "Downloads" link, followed by the "Downloads" button beneath the "CL Eye Platform Driver" heading.

  Double-click the driver's install file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver onto your laptop. Once the driver is finished installing, the "CL-Eye Test" program icon will be installed on the computer's desktop.

  Connect the PlayStation Eye camera to one of the laptop's USB ports.

  Double-click the "CL-Eye Test" program icon on the laptop screen.

  Click the "Devices" menu and select the "PS3Eye Camera" option to test your PlayStation Eye's connection. If you can see what the PlayStation Eye is capturing in the test window, you've successfully connected the PlayStation Eye to your laptop.
