How to Make a PS3 Disc Work

One of the most frustrating problems with a gaming console such as the PS3 occurs when the disc has problems reading, making it impossible to play. The Blu-ray discs the PlayStation 3 uses are less likely to get damaged from scratches or breaking, but occasionally problems occur. Before you toss the game out or render it completely useless, try some basic techniques to repair the disc with household items.

     Wipe the disc off with a microfiber cloth to remove small dust or dirt particles. Spray eyeglass cleaner on the surface if you need to wipe away smudges.

     Apply plain white toothpaste to the end of a cotton swab and rub it on the scratch from the center outward until the scratch disappears.

     Rinse the toothpaste off and wipe with the microfiber cloth again until the surface is dry.
