Setup
Turn on the PlayStation 3. If this is the first time you are booting up the unit, you will be prompted to create a user profile, where personalized settings are stored. This profile is linked to a free online PlayStation account.
Use a PS3 controller to scroll to the "Settings" tab on the XMB bar.
Scroll down to "Network Settings."
Select "Internet Connection Settings."
Select "Yes" on the confirmation screen. You will be disconnected from the Internet.
Select "Easy" when asked to "Select a Setting Method."
Select "Wireless" or "Wired," depending on your setup. If you choose wireless, go to Section 2; if you choose wired, go to Section 3.
Wireless
Choose "Scan" to have the PS3 search for your Wi-Fi network.
Select your network from the list. Enter the security password.
Save your settings.
Test the connection to make sure the PS3 can access the Internet.
Wired
Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port in rear of the PS3.
Select "Easy" when asked to "Select a Setting Method." The PS3 will display a list of the network settings.
Save your settings.
Test the connection to make sure the PS3 can access the Internet.
