The Different Visualizations on PS3

The "Music" section of the PlayStation 3's XrossMediaBar lets you listen to music and watch a visualization of the track being played on your television. There are three different visualizers that can be selected, each with its own distinct look: one that features the Earth and outer space, one with a fluid look and one that resembles the PS3's XrossMediaBar.
  1. Earth

    • The Gaia visualizer displays the Earth as it rotates and revolves around the sun. The main visualization effects are the reflection of the sun on the surface of the Earth, the rotation of the Earth, the shadows on the dark side of the Earth and the camera zooming in and out.

    Fluid

    • The fluid visualizer takes many visual forms and constantly morphs while a song is playing. This visualizer generally resembles a camera rushing over a body water, pixels falling into a body of water, waves moving across a body of water or some combination of the three.

    XMB

    • The XMB visualizer features the same sparkling wave that can be seen behind the PS3's XrossMediaBar. Unlike the XMB, however, this visualizer does not have any menu options. As the song plays, the wave gently moves up and down while the sparkles flash on and off.

    Activating the Visualizers

    • To activate the visualizers, scroll over the "Music" section of the XMB, highlight the "Playlist" option and press the "X" button. Highlight the song that you wish to play and press the "X" button. Once the song is playing, press the "Square" button to cycle through the three different visualizers.
