How to Make Analogs From a PS3 Controller Work

The PS3 controller comes with a host of features, including a wireless connection and a rumble pack. It is this internal rumble pack that causes the controller to vibrate during periods of intense action in gameplay. You can disable this feature, but you can also enable it in the ̶0;Settings̶1; menu, making the controller vibrate at your command.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your controller into the USB port on the front of the PS3 console (if it is a wired controller).

    • 2

Press the "Analog" button in the middle of the controller. This button enables and disables the analog sticks. If the problem is something else, or the buttons themselves are stuck, proceed to the next step.

    • 3

Unplug your controller and turn the unit over. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws on the back of the controller.

    • 4

Lift off the back housing of the controller.

    • 5

Lift up the battery and circuit board to expose the buttons on the inside of the controller housing. The rear of the analog sticks will be visible in the housing. If the sticks are pushed in, it could be the reason the sticks aren't functioning.

    • 6

Use your fingers to pop the analog sticks out so that they are sitting comfortably in their ports.

    • 7

Replace the circuit board, battery and rear housing. Replace the screws.
