Things You'll Need
Instructions
Lay out some newspaper over a work space. The newspaper will catch any oversprayed or dripped paint.
Remove the five screws from the back of the PlayStation 3 controller with the Phillips screwdriver and place them in the cup for safekeeping.
Pry the two halves of the controller casing apart. This will reveal the circuitry embedded in the front half of the casing. There will be a tiny silver screw holding it in place near the top. Remove this screw and set it aside.
Lift the main circuit board out of the controller and set it aside. You should now be able to pull all the buttons from their sockets, including the directional pad, four shoulder buttons and four action buttons ("X", "Triangle," "Circle," "Square").
Sand down the buttons and clean them with a dry cloth. This will get rid of any dirt or grease that may be on the button surface.
Paint the buttons and directional pad with glow-in-the-dark spray paint. This paint will glow green in the dark if it has been previously exposed to enough light. It can be purchased from any party supply shop. Let the paint dry for at least 24 hours.
Paint the labels onto the action buttons with glow-in-the-dark paint of a different color with the detailing brush. You may wish to skip this step if you are already familiar enough with the orientation of the buttons ("Triangle" is the top button, "Circle" is on the right, "Square" is on the left and "X" is on the bottom).
Place the buttons back in their sockets and reassemble the controller. The buttons will now glow in the dark when you're playing at night.
