How to Troubleshoot Streaming Netflix on the PlayStation

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is one of three popular game consoles that supports Netflix, the streaming movie service, by connecting to your home network. The PS3 supports a wired or wireless network connection and shares your high-speed Internet with other connected computers to seamlessly stream content to your game console. Streaming issues are often due to networking problems rather than the game console, as too many computers tax the connection and decrease the quality of the stream.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the right arrow on the PS3 controller to scroll to Settings and push the down arrow to view the Settings' submenu.

    • 2

Scroll down to Network Settings and press the right arrow on the controller to highlight "Internet Connection Settings."

    • 3

Tap "X" to open the PS3's Internet Connection Settings menu and highlight "Yes" onscreen.

    • 4

Press "X" and press the right arrow on the controller. If the network connection is wired, the PS3 will automatically test the Internet connection. For a wireless connection, highlight "Wireless" and push the right arrow to begin the test.

    • 5

Unplug the power cable from the cable or DSL modem. Insert the power cable back into the power port after one minute to refresh the modem, which restores the network connection.
