With the Sony PlayStation 3 home media console, users can change the theme of the console to display a moving, animated background. However, the option to allow custom themes has since been removed, so users are left to create dynamic themes using backgrounds already available from the PlayStation Store. Once you have purchased a background you enjoy, you can create the theme within your settings menu, accessible from the main menu.

Navigate to the "Settings" category on your PlayStation 3 main menu.

Press "X" on "Theme Settings" near the top of the menu.

Press "X" on "Background," the third option in the list. A sidebar will appear, displaying your backgrounds.

Press "X" on the name of the moving background you want to use. Press "O" to return to the main menu and save your changes.
