How to Make a Playstation Recognize an Android Phone

Android devices are much more than just phones, they are portable media centers that let you listen to music, play videos and view photos while on the go. Sometimes, however, you may want to enjoy these photos, videos and songs on a larger screen. The PlayStation 3 system is able to read these types of files off external devices through a USB connection and output them through the television the system is connected to. To get your PS3 system to recognize your Android smartphone as a USB storage device, you must first enable some settings on both devices.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PS3 system and connect the Android smart phone to the PS3 system via the USB connection cable that came with the device.

    • 2

Tap the "USB" icon at the top of the Android's home screen, followed by the "USB Connected" option.

    • 3

Tap the "Mount" option when prompted to place the device into USB mode.

    • 4

Scroll over to the section of the PS3's XrossMediaBar that corresponds to the media you want to view -- Photo for images, Video for videos, Music for music.

    • 5

Scroll down to the Android device's removable device icon and press the "Triangle" button. Select the "Show All" option to view all of the files of the specified file type stored on your Android device.
