How to Work Two Players on a Sega Genesis Emulator for PS3 Sonic

"Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection," released on the PlayStation 3 in 2009, features more than 40 Sega Genesis games on one disc. These games are powered by a Sega Genesis emulator; A programs that mimics the Sega Genesis system, perfectly recreating every game just as they appeared on their original game system. All four games in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series are included on the disc. Beginning with "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," these games allowed two players to play at once. This feature is enabled on "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" and works the same way as it did more than 20 years ago.

Instructions

      Launch "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" on your PlayStation 3.

      Press "Start" on your PlayStation 3 controller at the main menu.

      Select your "Sonic" game from the list provided. "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" are the only two "Sonic" games to allow two players.

      Press "X" on the second controller when prompted by the game after it has loaded.

      Select "1 Player" from the main menu of either game to start the game. For "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," after selecting "1 Player," you must also choose to play as both Sonic and Tails combined by selecting them from the character-selection screen.

      Use a second PlayStation 3 controller to control Tails, Sonic's sidekick. Tails operates the same as Sonic. However, in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," Tails can fly by rapidly pressing the "X" button while in midair.
