Little Big Planet Build Tips

Playstation 3 and PSP title ̶0;Little Big Planet̶1; isn̵7;t just about the levels that come with the game. This title lets you unleash your imagination with its content-creation tools. You can build levels using a number of tools and landscape features and then upload your creations to the game̵7;s online community. If you want to build a successful level that you and others will enjoy playing, there are a few factors to consider.
  1. Rewards

    • As you play through this game̵7;s pre-constructed levels, you̵7;ll notice there are plenty of opportunities to pick up items and points. You̵7;ll find these in bubbles, and the points you garner appear on each level̵7;s scoreboard. When you build, remember it̵7;s fulfilling to earn points in the same way. So even if you don̵7;t want to put in many bubbles, at least throw a few into each stage you make to prevent disappointment when an empty scoreboard pops up.

    Goal

    • Creating levels without rhyme or reason may be fun to start with, but building a satisfying level that you and others will enjoy and replay means coming up with a point to it all. Create a goal or story for each level you make. Create a rescue or escape scenario, for example, or simply imagine a theme that can be expressed through the backgrounds and objects you use.

    Photo Stickers

    • There̵7;s no reason for your level to look the same as anyone else̵7;s. Not only do you have plenty of backgrounds available, but you can also create stickers that appear in the game via the Playstation EyeToy Camera. Take a snap with the camera through the Stickers and Decorations option on the game̵7;s Popit menu. Once you̵7;ve chosen a photo to use as a sticker, apply it to an object and view it in your level.

    Attracting Players

    • Eventually, you̵7;ll want to put your level online for the enjoyment of others. The problem is there are already plenty of other levels online vying for the attention of players. To catch the attention of people browsing the levels on offer, create an interesting level icon. You want people to play again too, so thoroughly play-test every level you upload or you̵7;ll put people off your creations.

    Gluing Where Needed

    • Consider gluing anything in your level that would look odd if it wasn̵7;t static. If you̵7;ve placed a tree and you̵7;re concerned that a player will bump into it, causing it to move, "glue" the tree. Likewise, you don̵7;t want objects sliding about or tipping over.
