How to Hook Up a Joystick to PS3

If you enjoy playing arcade games on your Playstation 3, such as fighting games and strategy games, you may want to enhance your arcade enjoyment by using a joystick. There are a number of different joysticks that you can purchase that are Playstation 3 compatible. The joystick can be connected to your Playstation 3 via a USB connection.

  Turn on your Playstation 3 console.

  Plug the USB cable on the rear of the joystick into the rectangle USB port on the front of your PS3 console.

  Connect the other end of the cable into the USB port on the rear of your joystick.

  Flick the switch at the top of your joystick to "PS3." The switches allow you to switch between PC and PS3 mode.

  Load the game that you would like to play on your Playstation 3.

  Press the "Start" button on the joystick to start the game. You will sometimes first this at the top or back of the joystick. Use the rumble stick to control the movement of the characters and cursor.

  Check the top left corner of the joystick controls to see if you have four memory buttons. This will allow you to save button configuration so that you can then carry them out by pressing the button. Carry out the button configuration on the joystick and then press one of the four buttons. This will save the button configuration in to the memory. Press the memory button again to carry out that button configuration in the game.
