How to Hook Up a PS3 Into a Receiver and Get TV Images

You can hook up your Playstation 3 gaming console to your audio visual receiver to play the audio from PS3 through the speaker system and get the image from the PS3 on the TV. Receivers act as a control center for your home theater system so you don't have to have a tangle of wires behind your TV. The PS3 includes an HDMI port so you can export the audio and video to your receiver in a single cable.

  Turn off the receiver and the PS3.

  Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the rear of the PS3 console.

  Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI IN port on the rear of the receiver. Connect the other HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the receiver and plug the other end of the cable into the HDMI IN port on the rear of your TV.

  Press the "Source" button on the receiver until the image from the PS3 appears on the TV.
