How to Get Your PS3 to Work With RCA Jacks After Using an HDMI Cable

The PlayStation 3 is a gaming console developed by Sony in late 2006. This console supports both high-definition output through an HDMI cable and standard output through an RCA cable. The RCA cable is a special cable designed to work just with PlayStation products, but the end that connects to the television features the standard red, white and yellow plugs. Switching from HDMI to RCA cables takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the HDMI cable from your PlayStation 3 (PS3) and your television.

    • 2

Insert the RCA cable into your PS3. The PS3 end of the cable is thin and flat, much like the HDMI cable. However, you must insert it into the port labeled "AV Multi Out," not "HDMI."

    • 3

Insert the other end of the cable into your television. Place the red plug in the red port, the white plug into the white port and the yellow plug into the yellow port.

    • 4

Change your television to the correct channel. The channel should be listed just above your ports, but you may need to cycle the channels if not.

    • 5

      Turn on your PS3.
