How to Hook up a PlayStation 3 to a Pioneer VSX-816

The Pioneer VSX-816 is a receiver that you can use to plug in all of your peripheral devices. Connecting your PS3 through it allows you to hear your games in surround sound while playing them on your television. This system doesn̵7;t support HDMI connections, so you̵7;ll have to do without high-definition video. You have to use Sony̵7;s proprietary AV Multi Out cable, which it packages with the system, to connect to the RCA ports on the receiver.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the connector of your PS3 audio/video cable into the AV Multi Out port on the back of the system. The port is rectangular and is the farthest-right port on the back panel of both the original PS3 and the PS3 Slim.

    • 2

Connect the red and white wires to the Audio In ports on the back of the Pioneer receiver. The ports are red and white to match the cable connectors.

    • 3

Connect the yellow wire from the PS3 cable into the Video In port that corresponds to the Audio In ports you used in the previous step. This port is yellow.

    • 4

Connect the receiver to your television using an RCA video cable. Connect one end to the Video Out port on the receiver and the other to the Video In port on your television.
