Connect the PS3 With HDMI
Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI socket on the rear or side of the high-definition TV set. Plug the other end into the HDMI socket on the PS3.
Press the "AV" or "Ext" key on the TV set's remote control handset until the screen displays the PS3 output channel.
Click the "Settings" button on the PS3 home screen. Select the "Display Settings" menu option with television screen icon.
Click "Video Output Settings." Select "HDMI" from the drop-down menu. Click the check box beside "1080p," "1080i" and "720p" to select the high-definition screen resolution options. Click the check box beside "16:9" for widescreen display.
Click the "Save" button to save the changes. This optimizes the PS3 video output for high-definition TV sets.
Connect the PS3 With RCA Composite Cables
Insert one end of the RCA composite cables into the composite video jacks on the rear of the TV set. Match the cable connector colors to the corresponding jack colors on the set. Plug the other end of the cables into the composite jacks on the PS3.
Press the "AV" or "Ext" key on the TV set's remote control handset to display the PS3 output channel.
Click "Settings" on the PS3 home screen. Select the "Display Settings" menu option.
Click "Video Output Settings." Select "Composite/S-Video" from the drop-down menu. The PS3 automatically selects the screen resolution for composite connections. Click the check box beside "4:3" for TV sets with standard aspect ratio displays or "16:9" for widescreen sets.
Click the "Save" button to save the changes.
