Android PS3 Projects

Android is a mobile operating system that was released to the public on October 21, 2008. At the time of this publication, this OS is featured on over 150 million mobile products. Android supports many open-source coded programs, therefore many unique applications are developed for free use. You may use a few custom applications for PlayStation 3 projects, enhancing your experience with the Sony gaming console and your Android device. Most of these projects require you to have full access to your device, otherwise known as a rooted Android device.
  1. PS3 Controller

    • One advantage that the PlayStation 3 has over smartphones is the inclusion of a controller for games. With all of the advanced games available for the Android, you may wish to use a controller. Fortunately, Sixaxis Controller, a cheap application from Dancing Pixel Studios, allows you to play games with a wireless PS3 controller. The controllers need to be activated through their USB connections on the PS3. These wireless controllers allow users to play Android games with precision.

    Android Keyboard

    • BlueputDroid, currently in its beta phase, is a free app for users who wish to use their Android smartphones as a keyboard or mouse with the PlayStation 3. Though it only works for rooted Android devices, there are numerous models of smartphones with the Android OS that are compatible with this software. To use the app with your PlayStation 3, you will need to map your device to communicate with the PS3. This application works as a Bluetooth device with your PlayStation 3.

    PS3 Remote

    • An prominent feature of the PlayStation 3 is its Blu-ray player, but the only remote you can use when watching movies is the PS3 controller. However, the PocketBlu application allows you to control the PS3 Blu-ray features with your phone. This free app also allows you to rate content, search with text and integrate Facebook features with PlayStation 3 media.

    Jailbreak PS3

    • Users with a rooted HTC Desire or Nexus One devices may jailbreak their PS3 with PSGroove, allowing back-ups of games to be created. These are the only two devices that are currently compatible with this particular app. When the application is downloaded to your phone, switch off the PlayStation 3 and plug the device in through the USB port. When you power on the PS3, quickly hit the eject button to confirm this procedure. You may remove any files installed to your Android to finish.
