The Network Settings for a PS3

The network settings needed for your PS3 to access the Internet can vary widely depending upon your network setup. However, you will be able to configure the network settings on the console to connect to your network once you have acquired some details regarding the setup of your network. Once the PS3 has been adjusted to connect to your network, you will be able to return to the Network Settings menu at any time to view or adjust your settings as needed.

  Acquire the necessary information to connect to your network. If you are not privy to these details, contact your network administrator for the network SSID, security type and password. If you are connecting to a wired network, connect an Ethernet cable to one of the numbered ports on the back of your router, and then connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the PS3.

  Power on your PS3, and then sign in with your user name.

  Press the left and right arrows on your controller to navigate to the Settings menu.

  Navigate to the Network Settings option using the up and down arrows on the controller, and then press "X" to select Internet Connection Settings.

  Click "Yes" to confirm that you will be disconnected from the Internet, and then select Easy. If you are using a wired connection, you will simply need to save your settings and test your connection. If you are using a wireless connection, you must continue with the configuration.

  Select Wireless Connection, and then select Scan. If your wireless network does not broadcast its signal, select Manual to manually enter the name of the wireless network to which you wish to connect.

  Select your wireless network from the list of available networks, and then select the type of security that your network uses.

  Enter the network password, and then save your settings.
