How to Get a PS3 Back to the Old TV Mode

When you move your PlayStation 3 from a standard-definition to an HDTV, the console reconfigures your video settings automatically. After transferring your PS3 back to a standard-definition television, however, you will notice that you have audio, but no video display. By default, the PS2 doesn't reconfigure your video settings when you reconnect it to a standard-definition television. To play your favorite PS3 games on your standard-definition television set, reset the video settings on your gaming console.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your PS3 to your television by using the composite AV cable, and then turn on your television.

    • 2

Turn on the main power switch, located on the back of your PS3. The red light should appear on the front of the console. If the light is green, hold in the power button on the front of the PS3 until the light turns red.

    • 3

Hold in the power button on the front of the console for approximately five seconds. The system will beep twice. Once you hear the second beep, the video settings will be reset on the PS3, and you will have audio and video on your television.
