How to Install Downloads to a PS3 From a Jump Drive

The Sony PlayStation 3 console includes a hard drive for storing files of any type. In this way, the device acts like a portable storage device. You can transfer videos, photos, music and applications to the PS3 by using a USB jump drive. This is done by inserting the jump drive into PS3 USB port and copying the files to the console storage folder.

      Insert your USB jump drive into the USB port on the front of the PlayStation 3. Wiggle the drive with your fingers to make sure it sits securely.

      Press the "Power" button to turn on the PS3 console. Wait for the device to start up. Select the "Settings" icon from the PS3 home screen.

      Select the "USB Connection" from the list of options. Scroll down the list of files saved on the portable media drive. Highlight the file you want to transfer. Press the triangle button on the PS3 controller. Select the "Copy" option. The PS3 notifies you when the transfer has completed. You can open this new file in the System Storage folder on the console.
