How to Hook up a Composite A/V to the PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) supports multiple types of video connections. Included with the PS3 is a composite A/V cable. The composite A/V connection is intended for older, standard-definition TVs. Although most high-definition TVs support composite A/V connections, the video quality will look less than ideal and even detrimental while playing games that are designed to be played on a high definition TV.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the rectangular side of the composite A/V cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.

    • 2

Plug the yellow, red and white connectors on the other side of the composite A/V cable into the yellow, red and white jacks in an available composite A/V input on your TV.

    • 3

Set the TV to display the A/V input where you connected the PS3. Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3 to turn it on and wait for the logo to appear on the TV screen.
