Instructions
Connect the yellow, red and white connectors coming from the PlayStation's AV cable to the yellow, red and white jacks on the rear of your television.
Look for a video or input label above or below the jacks. This indicates the video input number used when selecting what input to view on your television. Turn your television back around, and press the "Video" or "Input" button on the TV or remote to turn the television to the same video or input number. For example, if the input jacks are labeled "Video In 4," press the "Video" or Input" button on the remote to select "Video 4" on the television.
Press and hold the PlayStation's power button. As always, you will hear a beep to indicate the unit powering on. Keep holding the power button down until you hear a second beep. This resets the console's video settings to the default. The second beep indicates the reset process has occurred. The default video settings are configured to work universally, meaning with all televisions. You should now see the PlayStation's video output on your screen.
Highlight "Settings," and then move down to highlight "Display Settings" and press "X." This opens a "Video Output Settings" screen. Highlight the "Composite/S Video" setting if it isn't highlighted already. Press "X." This opens a resolution screen.
Highlight only the "Standard (NTSC)" option, which is located at the top. To deselect an option, highlight it and press "X." The "480P," "720P," "1080i" and "1080P" options should all be deselected. The next screen allows you to select the TV type.
Highlight "4:3" on the Select the TV Type screen and press "X." The next screen allows you to review your settings. Press the "X" button to confirm. Highlight "Finish" and press "X" to close.
