Things You'll Need
Instructions
Make sure all devices are turned off. Connect an Ethernet cable from a port on the back of the wireless router to the Ethernet port on the back of the modem. You can also use a wireless router with a built-in modem to connect multiple consoles to one device.
Connect Ethernet cables from each of the Ethernet ports on the back of the PlayStation 3 consoles to the Ethernet ports on the back of the wireless router if you wish to connect through a wired connection. If you plan on using a wireless connection, do not connect Ethernet cables to the ports on the back of the PlayStation 3 consoles.
Turn on the modem, router and one of the PlayStation 3 consoles.
Scroll over to the "Settings" icon on the PlayStation 3 main menu, and scroll down to "Network Settings." Press the "X" button on the controller to enter the Network Settings menu.
Scroll to "Internet Connection" and select "Enabled," and then scroll to "Internet Connection Settings" and press the "X" button. Select "Yes" when told that the system will be disconnected and press the "X" button.
Select "Easy" and press the "X" button. If you are using a wired connection, a check of the network configuration will begin. If you are using a wireless connection, you will need to select "Wireless" on the next screen, and then the network configuration check will begin.
Select "Save Settings," and then select "Test Connection" on the following screen. After the connection test succeeds, press the "O" button to return to the PlayStation 3 main menu. Then perform these steps on the second PlayStation 3 console.
