PlayStation 3 and Netflix
Before using Netflix on your PS3, you must access your PlayStation network account, via the gaming device's Internet browser, and access the "What's New" section once you are in the PlayStation network. Click the "Netflix" icon to download and install the Netflix application. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. The Netflix application is free but does require a Netflix account with the streaming media package. Once the application is on your PS3, click the "Watch Instantly" tab to search and select the movie or television program you want to stream through the device.
Pausing
To pause a movie or program, use your PS3 controller's navigation buttons to scroll and select the play icon, an arrow pointing to the right, on the Netflix screen. The streaming video will pause. The play icon will turn into one containing two vertical lines side by side -- this is the pause symbol. To un-pause, select the icon again. The icon will now turn back into the arrow symbol.
Conflicts
Netflix does not conflict with other applications you may have on your PS3 nor does the application store videos on your PS3. You can still play Blu-ray discs on your PS3 as well as play games but not at the same time you are viewing a streaming movie or television program.
Controls
You can also fast forward, rewind and stop a streaming movie or television. Stopping a video exists you out of the Netflix application and return you to the PS3 main menu. Other Netflix controls include "Resume Playing" to start a video you stopped and "Play from the beginning" to start a video over.
