Turn your PS3 controller over. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws on the outside edges of the back of the controller.
Remove the back cover of the controller to expose the internal components. The rectangular battery pack will be resting on the main circuit board.
Lift the battery pack up and place it to the side of the board. You will notice a large black chip in the center of the circuit board.
Remove the rapid fire mod chip from its packaging. These chips are available online or from gaming supply retailers.
Peel off the adhesive cover on the bottom of the chip.
Place the chip adhesive side down over the main chip on the circuit board.
Place the battery back over the circuit board.
Replace the back case and screws. You now have rapid-fire capability with the top two buttons on the controller.
