How to Make a PS3 Work With Colored Cables

The Sony PlayStation 3 video game console has the ability to display video games and Blu-ray movies in high-definition. If you are a consumer who has yet to embrace HD technology, have no fear. The PlayStation 3 comes bundled with standard definition AV cables. There are also a couple other ways to enjoy crisper picture on a standard definition set. Component cables and S-video both offer a clearer view and are compatible with the PlayStation 3 console.

  • Component cables

Instructions

      Plug one end of the AV, component or S-video cable into the standard video output port on the back of the PlayStation 3 console.

      Plug the opposite end of the cable into the corresponding input ports on the back of the TV. For AV cables, that will be a yellow video input and white and red audio inputs. For component cables, there will be green, blue and red inputs for video and white and red audio inputs. For S-video cables, there will be a large S-video input and black and red audio inputs.

      Turn on the PlayStation 3 console and the television. Press the "Input" button on the television remote control to switch to the corresponding setting depending on which cables were used to connect the PlayStation 3 to the TV.
