How to Set the Output Mode to PCM

PCM stands for "Pulse Code Modulation" and refers to a method of converting analog audio to digital audio and back. PCM audio transmission is included in many different types of devices that output audio signals, including the PlayStation 3. In some cases, setting the audio output on a PlayStation 3 may resolve problems related to audio, or you may simply prefer the sound of PCM audio over other options. You can set the PS3 to PCM audio output for games and for Blu-ray playback.

Instructions
