How to Take Music Off a PS3 to a USB

In many ways the PlayStation 3 (PS3) is similar to a personal computer. It can connect to the Internet, download files and play a variety of media. This includes music files, such as MP3s. These files can even be stored on the PS3's hard drive. If you want to copy a music file from your PS3 to use it on another device, such as a computer, you can do so with a USB flash drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3, and then select your username to log in.

    • 2

Insert your USB flash drive into one of the USB ports on the PS3.

    • 3

Use the left and right arrows on your controller to navigate to the "Music" menu.

    • 4

Use the up and down arrows to scroll through your music. Stop scrolling when you reach the music file that you wish to copy to the USB flash drive.

    • 5

Press the "Triangle" button on your controller to display the "Options" menu.

    • 6

Scroll to "Copy" and press "X."

    • 7

Scroll through the list of copy destinations to locate your USB flash drive.

    • 8

Press "X" to select the drive, and then wait for the file to be copied.
