How to Fix a PS3 When It's Not Coming on the TV

Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment console can connect to a television via either an HDMI, component, composite or S-video connection. If you are not receiving any error warnings but your PS3 system is not displaying anything on your television, it may be that your system's video output settings are not set correctly. Luckily, Sony included an automatic video output detection feature to right this wrong.

Instructions

  Press and hold the "Power" button on the front of the PlayStation 3 game console. When you press the button, you will hear a beep. About five seconds after the initial beep, you will hear a second beep while holding the power button.

  Release the power button after hearing the second beep. The PlayStation 3 game console will now automatically detect the video output being used.

  Highlight the "Yes" option and press the "X" button to use the detected video output.

  Highlight the "Yes" option and press the "X" button a second time to confirm the video output settings are correct.
