How to Troubleshoot 3D in a PS3

One of the most-touted features of the PlayStation 3 game console is its ability to play 3D Blu-ray movies and play games in 3D. It is the only home console that is compatible with 3D technology, and Sony has considered itself a "pioneer" in the 3D entertainment field for quite some time. If you are having trouble playing back a 3D Blu-ray movie or playing a 3D-enabled game, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  Check your connections. If you have a 3D-enabled TV, the PlayStation 3 must be connected by an HDMI cable to deliver 3D content.

  Update your PlayStation 3 firmware. Connect to the Internet on your PlayStation 3. Go to the "System Update" icon in the "Settings" menu. Download firmware updates.

  Ensure your 3D settings are correct. The PlayStation 3 should automatically detect your 3D TV's screen size. If you are seeing distortion, go to the "Settings" menu. Select "Display Settings" followed by "Video Output Settings." Scroll down until you see the "3D TV" section to ensure the size is correct.
