Instructions
Look at the power indicator light located on the far right side of the PS3 console (above the power button) to verify that the PS3 is receiving power. When the PS3 is turned on, the indicator light is solid green. When the PS3 is in standby mode, the indicator light is solid red. As long as the indicator light is illuminated, either green or red, you know the PS3's power cord is connected properly. If the indicator light is not illuminated, ensure that the power cable is plugged securely into the power jack on the back of the PS3 console. Also ensure that the other end of the cord is plugged securely into an electrical outlet and that the outlet is working.
Verify that the PS3 is turned on by checking the indicator light. If the light is red instead of green, press the power button to turn the device on.
Ensure that the single plug end of the PS3's AV multi cable is pushed securely into the AV multi out jack on the back of the PS3.
Confirm that each plug on the other end of the AV multi cable is inserted into its corresponding RCA jack on the TV set. Also verify that each plug is pushed securely into its jack. The cable's red plug goes into the TV's red "Audio R" input jack. The white plug goes into the TV's white "Audio L" input jack. The yellow plug goes into the TV's yellow "Video" input jack. Some TVs come equipped with more than one panel of AV input jacks. It is important that all of the plugs are connected to the same panel of AV jacks. If the TV is not displaying video from the PS3 but playing sound, or vice versa, or if there is no video or sound on the TV from the PS3, confirming that the AV multi cable is connected properly can solve the problem.
Flip through the TV's video input channels using the "Input" or "Source" button on the TV's remote control. The TV will not show video or play sound from the PS3 if it is set to the wrong video input channel. You'll know the TV is on the right video input channel when you see the PS3 home screen on the TV monitor.
