How to Get Your Ear Piece To Hook Up On Your PS3

How you pair your Bluetooth headset depends on which type of headset you're using. If you're using the PlayStation 3 headset sold by Sony, pairing is a bit simpler than if you're using a third-party ear piece. Once connected, your headset gives you to the ability to talk to other players in online games. Headsets can also be used with other devices, such as Bluetooth-enabled computers and mobile phones. Your ear piece will need to use Bluetooth; the PS3 does not have an input for 3.5 mm microphone jacks.

Instructions

  1. Sony Wireless Bluetooth Headset

    • 1

Plug the mini-B end of the PlayStation USB cable into the end of your headset.

    • 2

Turn on your PlayStation and plug the standard-A end of the USB cord into the PlayStation.

    • 3

Wait for the light on the headset to shine for two seconds; once the light turns off, the headset is paired. The USB cable will also charge the headset; when the mute indicator light stops flashing, your headset is fully charged.

    Third-Party Bluetooth Headsets

    • 4

Go to Settings > Accessory Settings on your PlayStation 3. Select "Manage Bluetooth Devices."

    • 5

Select "Yes" when asked if you want to connect a device via Bluetooth. Select the "Register a Device" button.

    • 6

Set your headset to visible; this is also sometimes called discovery mode or pairing mode. How to make your device visible to Bluetooth scanning varies between headsets. Consult your headset's user guide for instructions; these instructions will include a pass code, which you will need to connect your device to the PS3.

    • 7

Select "Start Scanning." The PS3 will show all the visible Bluetooth devices in range; select your headset and enter your pass code. Once the pairing is complete, you will see "Register Completed" on your screen.

    • 8

Turn on your headset and go back into the Accessory Settings menu. Select "Audio Device Settings." Select "Input Device" and choose your paired Bluetooth headset.
