How to Make a Hidden Blade for Altair

The first mission in the "Assassin's Creed" video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 results in you losing all of Altair's equipment, including his hidden blade. In the second chapter of the game, you are charged with a mission to restore some of Altair's honor, which ultimately allows him to use the hidden blade and his sword again. This mission acts as a sort of tutorial in information gathering -- one of the key elements of the game.

Instructions

- 1
  Play through the game until you get to Memory Block 2. This chapter of the game begins with Al Mualim admonishing you for breaking the rules of the Brotherhood. Once he gives you the quest, exit the building.

  Exit the fortress to meet one of Altair's fellow assassins. He will tell you more about your mission and instruct you to head to the market. Follow the map marker that appears on the in-game map in the lower-right corner of the screen.

  Sit down on a bench near the person marked on your map. Follow the on-screen instructions to eavesdrop on his conversation. When the conversation ends, a new map marker appears on your screen. Follow it to the next objective -- a pickpocketing mission.

  Stand near your target, and press "L1" to initiate the pickpocketing sequence. Listen to the conversation, then follow the target. Watch the buttons on the screen while you follow the target. The "Circle" or "B" button will light up when you are close enough to pick the target's pocket on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, respectively.

  Follow the third map marker to the next target. Press "L1" when you reach the man yelling about Al Mualim. Wait for his speech to end, then follow him to a secluded area. Attack him until he surrenders and confesses what he knows. When this scene is over, the Animus will take over and flash forward to scene with Altair, Al Mualim and the traitor. Al Mualim will return your sword and hidden blade.
