What PS3s Have Netflix?

In 2009, Sony and Netflix, an online movie rental service, entered an arrangement that allowed PlayStation 3 users to stream some of Netflix's movie and television show catalog directly to their PlayStation 3s without requiring the use of a DVD-by-mail subscription. While every PlayStation 3 system has access to Netflix, users will still need an Internet connection, a free PlayStation Network account and a trial or paid subscription to a Netflix streaming service.

- With the Netflix application installed onto your PlayStation 3, you'll be able to browse through the online portion of Netflix's catalog, which features hundreds of movies and full seasons from many television shows. With Netflix on your PlayStation 3, you will no longer have to receive movies through the mail. Instead, you can stream your movie selections instantly to your PlayStation 3 with no limit on how many movies and shows you can access.
Internet Connection
- To access and use the Netflix application, your PlayStation 3 must be connected to the Internet, whether the connection is wireless or wired. To stream video to your PlayStation 3, you should have at least a broadband connection through cable or DSL. To connect to the Internet, navigate to the "Settings" section of your PlayStation 3's Cross Menu Browser, or XMB, then select "Network Settings." With "Internet Connection" set to "Enabled," select "Internet Connection Settings," then "Easy." Your PlayStation 3 will walk you through the steps required to complete the connection, be it "Wired" or "Wireless."
PlayStation Network
- Accessing Netflix requires you to be logged into your PlayStation Network account. You can create an account either through your computer or directly through your PlayStation 3. If you want to use your computer, visit the PlayStation Network's welcome page in Resources and click "Sign Up Now." To create an account through your PlayStation 3, navigate to the "PlayStation Network" section of your XMB and select "Sign Up for PlayStation Network." After creating your account, log in with your email address and password.
Joining Netflix
- Now that you are connected to the Internet and logged into the PlayStation Network, navigate to the "PlayStation Network" section of your XMB and select "What's New." Click on the Netflix icon to download and install the application to your PlayStation 3. With the application installed, you will have to create a Netflix account and enter your payment information to access Netflix's catalog and start streaming to your PlayStation 3. Creating an account with this method will only grant you access to Netflix's streaming service and not its DVD-by-mail service, which is optional. You can now find the Netflix application in the "Video" section of your XMB.
