DualShock 3 Controller
From a design standpoint, the DualShock 3 doesn't look very different from DualShock 2 (the PlayStation 2 controller). However, the new controller includes wireless play with Bluetooth connectivity and a rechargeable battery, motion-sensitive controls and vibration. The PlayStation 3 only comes with one controller, though you can connect up to seven controllers to your system. Additional controllers can be purchased from any major retailer. The controller charges using the included USB cable, and is playable while connected to the system.
USB Cables
The USB 2.0 cable connects to the DualShock 3 controller using a mini B port on the top of the controller, and connects to the console using a standard A plug. Sony uses the same cable for branded PlayStation devices, including the PSP systems, PlayStation Move controllers, Bluetooth headsets and keypads.
AV Cables
PlayStation's AV cable -- unchanged from the PS2 system -- uses the RCA plugs that are standard on standard-definition televisions; most high-definition televisions also include these ports. The AV cable can deliver resolution up to 480i on supported televisions, and comes with gold-plated connectors. The PlayStation 3 delivers high-definition output up to 1080p using an HDMI cable, but the cable is sold separately.
Power Cable
The PlayStation 3 uses a 2 pin AC power cord, which plugs into the back of the console. PlayStation's manual recommends only using the cord provided with the PlayStation 3, though replacement cords can be purchased from any major store. Take care when inserting your power cord into your console, and be sure to remove it before opening or cleaning your system.
